Mounting camera under headlight
In this article I will explain how I mounted camera under my headlight on my motorcycle Ninja 300.
First of all, let's cover pros of the mount location.
Safer from weather (rain, sun)
Cheap (with my method)
Not safe from road hazards (dirt, bugs, some water, etc.)
Not full close up view
I did a lot of research about mounting the camera and I think this way is cheap and ideal. Only place I needed to go for parts was a local hardware store. I just needed one 1/4 screw, two nuts, and two wide washers.
If you want, you can use one lock nut instead of one of the nuts.
Before doing any more work. I installed power cable and recorded video footage, placing the camera in several spots under headlight. This way I decided which placement is the best for my needs.
Then, I removed black shroud. To do that, remove two screws (11mm) and about 7 push locks.
Once black shroud was removed, I drilled a 1/4 hole and on one side I put screw, two nuts, and washer, and on another side I put washer and the actual camera holder.
Make sure you align everything correctly and tighten two nuts.
Before putting shroud back in place, I used a zip tie to secure power cable to the metal bar, that way there is not much movement between the power port of the unit and the power cable.
Last step is to put black shroud back in place. That is it, when everything is done, you should have a nice reliable hidden camera under the headlight.
I decided not to put weather cover on the camera with this setup. I don't ride in rain and if I stock in rain, I hope my camera will not die. I will keep you updated if there will be any changes to the camera's performance.
