Garmin nüvi 1390T Review

The screen size of the device is 4.3 inch. Garmin nüvi 1390T can be mounted on a windshield or on a dashboard. It can also be used for pedestrians. When powered on, it locks on your location pretty fast. Just like most GPS Navigation devices, Garmin nüvi 1390T has features like favorites, points of interests, recent destinations, etc. Garmin nüvi 1390T comes with over 5 million points of interests.

Like in some Garmin GPS Navigation devices, Garmin nüvi 1390T comes with ecoRoute. EcoRoute computes the way you drive and tells you if you drive safe and whether the way you drive is fuel efficient or not by producing ecoRoute icon. EcoRoute icon changes by the way you drive, green means good, yellow means average, and red means bad or not efficient.

Garmin nüvi 1390T Review

The map is great on Garmin nüvi 1390T. It zooms in or out depending on how fast you are driving. In four or five lane roads, it will show arrows on which lane to stay if there is exit approaching. Speed limit is visible on practically every street in the area. Routing is very accurate, a lot better than TomTom on iPhone at least. Bluetooth mode allows calls from Garmin nüvi 1390T. You can call to points of interests or to your contacts. Like in most GPS Navigation devices, you can see pictures through the device. You can’t play mp3 files through it, but in my opinion mp3 player in GPS Navigation device is useless feature as practically every driver has CD player in their vehicle connected to at least four speakers in the car. It will be very complicated to have GPS Navigation device with audio output to cassette or FM transmitter to achieve good sound quality.

Garmin nüvi 1390T Review

Garmin nüvi 1390T provides consumers with live traffic for free, yes, LIVE TRAFFIC for FREE. Because of the free feature, it comes with advertisements. Is it good thing or not? It depends on your city. Here in Florida, traffic is not big problem. If you live in New York, there is always big traffic, so live traffic might not be good for that region as well. Atlanta, Georgia, may use the feature and it might be very helpful for them. For me, it’s just annoying advertisements in the GPS Navigation device.
Overall, Garmin nüvi 1390T is very accurate navigation device for nice price. As of June 9, 2010, it goes for about $200 - $250.
