Assassins Creed has been on the market for roughly 5 years and it quickly became one of the best games. So far all the games in the series were exciting. Does Black Flag keep up with the Assassins Creed series? Read full review.
Let me first start by saying that I am more picky now when it comes to gaming. Back in the days, I played nearly every single game that came out to the market, but now I only play a few. Probably the main reason I play less games is that I am older now and obviously games don't entertain me as much.
My priorities in the games are graphics, story line, and obviously action. I am happy to say that Black Flag has it all. I'll start with graphics.
Black Flag offers lots of different environments. You'll deal with water and land. In the land, you'll see mostly what you saw in previous Assassins Creed. Water is completely new addition to the game. You'll be underwater and on a ship. You'll conquer battles and storms.
I also liked the way upgrades are working in the game. On top of money, you'll need other items for most of the upgrades. For example, when it comes to upgrade swords, guns, etc, just money is good enough. When it comes to extending player's life, you need to hunt for some animals. When it comes to ship's upgrades, you will need money, wood, metal, and cloth when applicable. I liked that system more because it requires you to do lots of different missions.
There are two ways to get money, wood, metal, etc. One is robbing storages. There are not that many of them on the map and second way is a lot more entertaining. The second way is robbing ships. It's fun as you have to fire at the ship until it gets disabled. Once the ship is disabled, you have to board it and kill number of people. Once in awhile, you may be required to also kill the captain, destroy the flag, kill certain people, and ignite some powder.
I liked the storyline a lot. You play as a pirate, who's sole goal is to make money. Later on he meets Assassins and see their goal. Will he become Assassin or not is something you'll find out in the gameplay. I loved the ending of the game and everything about it. I am not gonna spoil it for you, but I promise you that you will enjoy it as well.
It took me some time to get used to spending hours on the sea, but after some time, I actually got addicted to the sea adventures. Even after taking over hundred of ships, it's still exciting to pick a fight with other ships and stealing whatever that ship had.
Through out the game you'll meet bunch of characters and you get used to many of them. After beating the game, you'll see how Assassin's Creed Black Flag connected to other AC games. It makes me believe that they could make a great movie with the stories they made so far.
Out of animals etc they had in the game, I liked most alligators and sharks. Throughout the game you'll see couple attacks from these species.
I also noticed that for some reason, most games can not make water look realistic (Call of Duty Ghosts is a good example). AC4 Black Flag makes water nearly as realistic as it gets. I am not sure if I made it clear earlier, but Assassin's Creed 4 is definitely base game of 2013 for PC. As I did in previous reviews, I'll say how much the game worth. The game worth all $60 and gets editor's choice.
