Innovv Power HUB 1 Review
I have been using Innovv K1 camera for a long time now and don’t experience any issues at this time. Innovv just sent me another product to review, Power HUB 1. As always, Innovv does great job at packaging its products. HUB 1 arrived in a nice rectangular box.
Pretty much what power hub does is managing power for all your accessories on motorcycle. You can use up to 5 accessories with the box.
What you get in the package is the hub itself and 6 Posi connectors along with 3 spade terminal connectors. I used Posi connectors myself for many years and never had issues with them.
There is only one way to see how well the unit works and it is my installing it on my motorcycle. I have two dash cameras installed on my bike, one is Innovv K1 and another is Mobius.
Before you connect the hub, MAKE SURE you take off 40A fuse. That will save you from any possible electrical short issues.
I connected the hub to battery first, then I made a connection for trigger wire. After that, I installed ground for cameras and connected remaining needed wires.
Instructions on where to connect what are also on the box of the HUB.
You don’t have to use Posi connectors. Sometimes I actually used cramp connectors (the ones you would use for stereo installation). Make sure to either remove fuses of wires you will not be using, or close up the wire with supplied Posi connector or a wirenut.
When I connected everything, I started my motorcycle to see how everything works. According to the manufacturer, unit starts working 10 seconds after motorcycle starts and stops working 10 seconds after motorcycle stops.
The main positive line has 40a fuse. All other lines (that go to your cameras and other accessories have 5a each). If your accessories require higher amp, you can use 15a.
When I tested the hub, everything worked great except the power on delay did not work as advertised. My cameras started working after 3 seconds, which I am perfectly fine with. The cameras did stop working in about 10 seconds after motorcycle was shut off.
For readers that don’t understand purpose of delayed power on, it is needed because some accessories may not start well with all other motorcycle’s equipment. When you start your bike, there is a big power load on your battery, therefore, if your accessories start at the same time with the big power load, your accessories might not run properly. Innovv HUB1 is what you need to avoid issues with running accessories on your motorcycle.
As I mentioned earlier, I have no problems with the HUB giving power to accessories after 3 seconds instead of 10, but maybe some users would have issue with that.
The HUB took a lot of space on my bike, which is not Innovv’s fault. Ninja 300 is a pretty small bike and there it is not roomy in the battery’s location. I had to hide wires as much as I can to put my seat back on.
Power HUB1 goes for $69. It is definitely not a cheap priced product, but its also depends what you need it for. If you are just interested in connection one camera, I would suggest you look for alternative options. If you are interested in connecting various accessories to your motorcycle, Innovv Power HUB1 might be just the ideal product for you.
