If you are living in United States and have diabetes, you probably know that medications are very pricey. Well, today I’ll tell you how you can save some money, sometimes reducing more than half on a medication cost. That’s of course if you don’t have health insurance or have really bad one. I used to have insurance through employer paying $80 a month and the insurance would cover only $40 on medication.
Everyone who is diagnosed with type I diabetes needs a lot of medication. Let’s start with needles; needles are not expensive part of the medical supplies diabetic needs. Each box of needles cost about $20, so you don’t need to worry about that. 100 needles should last for about a month or two month. So just get needles at your local pharmacy, any insulin needles they sell should do the job, so just ask for the cheapest ones they have.
Second part is the test strips. Most clinics supply diabetics with OneTouch Ultra Tester. One hundred test strips cost about $95. Here is my recommendation, get tester named TrueTrack. The tester cost only about $20 and the best part coming up. One hundred test strips cost only $49, that’s 50% off. If you need hundred test strips a month, you can save about $600 annually. That’s a great deal! One touch ultra checks sugar level in blood in 5 seconds when it takes 10 seconds for TrueTrack to do the job, but who cares about 5 seconds when such big money can be saved! I know for sure that Publix Pharmacy sells TrueTrack, so go to different pharmacies in your area and find out who carries the money saving products.
Finally insulin takes so much money! If you are using two different types of insulin, it should take a lot of money from your pocket. Novolin NPH and Novolog cost about $90 a bottle for each here in United States. To find a better solution, I started looking for places where medication is free and that would be Canada. Here is what I found: Novolin NPH 10ml bottle cost only $40, that’s more than 50% off! Novolog was a little more pricey, it cost $60 over there for 10ml bottle. Shipping should be about $15 so I recommend you to order for couple month instead of just one. Another great part, no prescription required! Last time I checked with pharmacy in Florida, prescription was required for NPH and was not required for Novolog. I think don’t understand why it would be required for one and not for another. My opinion is money of course because it will cost you lots of money to just get the prescription. Here is the site where I found such cheap insulin 77CanadaPharmacy. If you are interested in cartridge insulin instead of ones in bottles, 77CanadaPharmacy sells those for much cheaper price as well. 77 Canada Pharmacy provides best choice for someone who needs insulin for great price and fast delivery without need of insurance and prescription!
