ASUS M5A78L-M USB3 Motherboard Review
In this review we'll cover fairly cheap motherboard for AMD processor This particular motherboard goes for only $60 at this time and can handle any FX processor. The motherboard may not have all new and some useless extra features (like wifi adapter), but it has mostly everything that is needed for average computer user.
Unlike some more expensive motherboards, M5A78L is missing little adapter for front panel controls that makes it easy to hook up all the little wires, but it was not a big deal to me.
The motherboard can fit only one ePCI video card, which is also enough for most users.
I also liked the small size of this board. It should fit in any microATX case.
You'll get 6 SATA slots, which is more than enough to cover SSD, HDD, and DVD drives. This board does not have IDE connector, but nowadays its actually tough to find a hard drive that works on IDE instead of SATA. There are 4 RAM slots.
So overall this motherboard is great with only one disadvantage. The board had everything I needed, except a USB 3.0 connector on the board. It came with 2 USB 3.0 on the back of the motherboard, but nothing for front panel.
Most new computer cases have USB 3.0 on the front panel, but this model of the motherboard failed to include at least one USB 3.0 input for the front of the case.
With that been said, everything else on the motherboard was great. One side note, some customers complained that Internet did not work after start up. I fixed the problem simply by installing driver from a disk that came with the motherboard. I assume Windows does not have the driver on the OS and that's why there is the issue.
Its a simple fix. If you do not have a DVD drive, simply download the needed driver from the Asus web site.
